OCD & Autism
Autism and OCD can have similar presentations and can co-occur; however they are different challenges that can sometimes appear similar.
Research suggests that 17% of autistic people will also experience OCD which is higher than the prevalence rates for OCD in non-autistic people (Meier 2015).
More recent research from 2020 estimates that 17%-37% of autistic children and young people (CYP) experience OCD (Martin et al 2020).
