Signs & Effects of Eating Disorders
Signs of eating disorders can vary but may include:
- Spending a lot of time worrying about weight and body image
- Spending a lot of time calculating, measuring or organising
- Restricting food or a change in eating habits e.g. eating very slowly or very quickly, refusing certain foods
- Exercising a lot or going to the bathroom a lot after eating
- Having strict rules or routines around food
- Changes in mood such as being withdrawn, anxious or depressed
Physical effects of eating disorders may include:
- rapid weight loss
- feeling cold and weak
- difficulty concentrating
- irregular or absent periods
- dizziness, hair loss, and changes in skin and nail health
