PDA & Autism
PDA is widely understood to be a characteristic associated with autistic children and young people. For example, autistic people may avoid activities or environments that cause anxiety or sensory overload, disrupt routines, involve transitioning or involve tasks they find uninteresting or irrelevant.
They may refuse, withdraw, ‘shutdown’ or escape in order to avoid these demands or situations.
